The 15th Gwangju Biennale [CDA Holon Pavilion] Program Public Movement, DEMO Its starting point will be Miro Center. From there, the audience will join the group of performers for a walk to Square, where the second act will take place. In this new work, Public Movement presents a lexicon of public choreographies as they are performed by the State, its citizens, and the encounter between the two. Echoing Gwangju’s political heritage as the birthplace of democracy, Public Movement has established a new local cell of performers to explore the question: How do we become a social body? The lexicon maps the corporal manifestations of solidarity, resistance, and care, drawing from political structures found in public spaces. DEMO will be activated throughout the biennale, at the heart of the city. As such, it becomes a new ritual, engaging with recent history and collective memory, and reflecting on the challenges of democracy in contemporary society. Performance Schedule Sep 29 (Sun) 18:00-1
