GB TALK 2025

 

As part of the Gwangju Biennale Foundation’s monthly program series, three sessions of GB TALK will be held in 2025.

We look forward to your interest and participation in the programs taking place in both Gwangju and Seoul.

[GB TALK Program Schedule]

Gwangju | September 10 (Wed) | 18:30–20:30

- Speakers: Talks by and conversation with KIM Hoojo, activist/farmer, HWANG Yezoi, artist/photographer, 

                    moderated by Binna Choi, guest professor of GBICC  

- Venue: Not Bookstore (1F, 8-12 Chungjang-ro 22beon-gil, Dong-gu, Gwangju)

- Content: Focusing on the December 2024 national state of emergency and the Battle of Namtaeryeong, the speakers will share their perspectives on photography, civic solidarity, and the power of the square.

- Schedule: GB TALK Conversation (100 min) → Q&A (20 min)


Seoul | September 13 (Sat) | 15:00–17:00

- Speakers: Talks by and conversation with Mi You, professor at documenta institute of University of Kassel, 

Sandev Handy, senior curator, museum of modern and contemporary art, srilanka, moderated by Binna Choi, guest professor of GBICC

- Venue: SongEun (441 Dosan-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul)

- Content: Examining the conditions of art and curating in the era of multipolarity from the perspectives of contemporary curators and researchers.

- Schedule: GB TALK Conversation (100 min) → Q&A (20 min)


Gwangju | September 20 (Sat) | 14:00–17:00

Synod – A Civic Gathering to Tell the State What Art Is 

- Speakers: Roundtable facilitated by PARK Suzy, curator at Te Tuhi, Auckland /co-operator of WESS with special meal by SUH Dasom, artist/Practice Makes Practice

- Venue: Gwangju Biennale Geosigi Hall (115 Biennale-ro, Buk-gu, Gwangju)

- Content: Presenting a series of discourses that question how the state defines art and how art, in turn, can imagine new forms of nationhood.

- Schedule: GB TALK Roundtable (120 min) → Art Catering & Networking (60 min)
