SubjectGB Artist Focus ⑤LIM Subeom

GB Artist Focus offers audiences the opportunity to meet artists in person, hear their stories, and gain a deeper understanding of their creative worlds. The program is presented in collaboration with cultural and art spaces across Gwangju.

The fifth featured artist, LIM Subeom, continues his painting practice by imagining mythical beings and landscapes that emerge at the boundaries of worlds beyond human understanding. His sensuous and distinctive worldview will be introduced through a conversation with curator Sungwoo Kim.

[About the Artist]
LIM Subeom focuses on mythical entities and imagined scenes that appear at the edges of ambiguous, unknowable realms. He envisions vast worlds as organic networks, and his paintings reflect a sensuous awareness of the self as part of that whole.

Born in Gwangju in 1997, LIM studied Western painting at Chonbuk National University. He has held solo exhibitions at Sangsup Gallery (2023–2024, Seoul) and Art Space JIP (2022, Gwangju), and has recently participated in group exhibitions at the Gwangju Biennale Pavilion (2024), Arario Gallery Seoul, Daejeon Museum of Art, and Horanggasy Art Polygon, among others.
