On October 1-2, 2019, the Gwangju Biennale Foundation hosted the Minds Rising, Spirits Tuning Gwangju Biennale 2020 Public Program as part of GB Talks for the 13th Gwangju Biennale.
Held in conjunction with the participating artists’ first site visits to Gwangju, the program opened dialogues that usually remain internal to the Biennale’s production, and consisted of a forum, performance, and conversations with the artists.
The public program began its first day at Horanggasinamu Art Polygon in Yangnim-dong with an introduction of Gwangju Biennale 2020 by artistic directors Defne Ayas and Natasha Ginwala.
For the 13th Gwangju Biennale in 2020, Minds Rising, Spirits Tuning sets out to examine the spectrum of the extended mind and intelligence through artistic and theoretical means.
After the artistic directors’ introduction and presentation on the Gwangju Biennale 2020, the program continued with artists’ presentations and conversations with local interlocutors.
