SubjectSpecial Upcoming Events

There’s just a few weeks left to catch this year’s 10th Gwangju Biennale, and the foundation is holding a series of promotional events to close with a bang.

From October 22 to 29, visitors to the Biennale Hall who take a selfie with an artwork will be eligible to win a free gift card or gift set. Participants of all ages are encouraged to join in; all you need to do is select your favorite artwork from Burning Down the House, and post the selfie to our official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/GwangjuBiennale). Include a line or two about why that artwork speaks to you, and you’ll be eligible to win. The foundation will randomly select 20 posters, who can choose to receive either a 20,000 won gift card or a special gift set from cafe Mille.

October 29 is also Culture Day, and the Biennale will extend its hours for those office workers and night owls who haven’t had a chance to see this year’s exhibition. Doors will open till 9.30pm, with last admission at 9pm. Those who purchase their tickets between 6pm and 9pm will receive a special Culture Day discount, with adult admission being just 4,000 won (down from the original 14,000 won). In addition, Mille will be holding live music concerts from 7.40pm to 8.50pm, with performances by jazz group Wanshin Park Trio and the pop band D Minor. Patrons who show their Gwangju Biennale ticket at the register can purchase Americanos for just 1,000 won.

The plight of poor college students is well known, so the foundation is offering a discount to visitors who present their student IDs at the ticket box from November 1 to 5. Admission is just 4,000 won, and students will also receive a 20 percent discount from the gift shop and purchase two Americanos for the price of one at Mille. *Limited to college students from the South Jeolla Province
