Gwangju Biennale Artist Research Program: 2026 "GB Artist Focus".

 

The 2026 "GB Artist Focus" is an artist research program that invites audiences to engage with and explore the practices of artists based in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. The program is organized in collaboration with various art spaces in Gwangju, aiming to expand exchange within the local art scene and foster a vibrant artistic ecosystem.

 

This year's program features seven artists in collaboration with seven art spaces. Participating artists and spaces are Seungwon Jung × Artspace House, Aaron Park × spaceppong, Lee Jo Heum × OverLab., Taejun Yun × Space DDF, Gwon SeungChan × LEEKANGHA ART MUSEUM, Jeong deokyong × D.A.Aura, and Sul Park × Horanggasy Creative Studio (*in program order). Open to anyone interested in art and creative practice, the program will also be documented and shared as video content on the Gwangju Biennale YouTube channel.

 

The 2026 "GB Artist Focus" is organized as a series of public talks between participating artists and critics, featuring artists selected in relation to the values and visions of each participating space. The program explores the artists' current exhibitions, key works, and creative processes, offering audiences an opportunity to engage with their artistic practices from multiple perspectives.

* The "GB Artist Focus" has been presented since 2017 as part of the Gwangju Biennale's community-based monthly program under the title "GB Artist Studio Visit". Since 2025, it has been reconfigured as "GB Artist Focus" through collaboration between the Gwangju Biennale and art spaces in Gwangju.
