Research Program on Local Artist Artist Studio Visit

Artist : Inseon Park

Since witnessing the demolition of her relative’s home due to urban redevelopment, artist Inseon Park has featured in her works the disappearance of houses and consequently their memories and the homogenous urban landscapes centered on apartment complexes that replaced them. Based on the idea that nature and cities breathe together organically, she seeks to connect the two realms in her works and experiment with the formless material of water. The interview with Park will be uploaded on August 29 (Monday) on the Gwangju Biennale’s official YouTube channel.

Recomposing natural landscapes as geometrical structures, her latest works focus on creatures living in nature and their organic vitality. Her observations of the natural environment, which has a more fundamental relationship with humans, demonstrate that her works cover a wider spectrum of themes and forms.
