The Gwangju Biennale Foundation will host the Gwangju Biennale Artist Studio Visit, a research program on local artists. The program returns this October with Sumukhwa (ink wash painting) artist Dalyong Heo.

Dalyong Heo's work is known to embody May 1980 as well as historic events leading up to May 1980. Dalyong Heo has been gradually escaping from characteristics that defined his previous work, providing us with a different perspective. His emotionally restrained realistic paintings gently comfort the viewer without disturbing their scars. This studio visit will explore how his heavy past work along with Minjung art transformed to emit life and warmth.
